GLITCHES IN CITIBANK REWARD POINT CARD ..!!


Some Marketing features (as they say) of this card:
  • Lets you earn reward points faster and the reward points can be used to claim exclusive travel deals, premium merchandise and other offers.
  • Cardholders stand to earn 10 reward points for every Rs.125 billed to the card at any of the merchant partner stores.
  • As welcome rewards, cardholders are offered 1500 bonus points and 100 bonus points for the first Rs.1000 billed to the card.
  • Bonus points do not expire and can be redeemed against attractive options including holidays, air miles, cash back offers and premium merchandise.
  • Dining & shopping privileges and EMI privileges are the other benefits that come with this card.

But some glitches in 10x rewards at the grocery stores which are being noticed...!!
  • Many of the customers are not getting 10x rewards points at merchants where they were getting earlier. 
  • After inquiring, Citibank told me (called at 10am, 26th July, 2015) that the list of stores that are eligible for this offer is maintained by Visa and they are not responsible if they update it. What the hell? In this era of technology they can't update the stores which are eligible for 10x rewards point. Seems like thy want to hide it.
  • Sometimes, people are getting 10x rewards at one location but not at another though both belong to the same chain. 
  • On top of that, they recently announced the reduction in value of the points from 0.40p to 0.35p making them even less of a value. 
At this point, I can only think that it is all a big trick but noting in it. They either personalize the rewards for each person or want to keep this hidden from public eye and flash it as marketing trick and unsuspecting consumer feels cheated. I guess they no longer want to keep the card competitive.
