Wanna Be Brainy ..Drink Green Tea !!!!

"Nine preclinical trials, as well as five epidemiological studies have already been published when I am still writing this article all pointing to the fact that Green tea boosts various aspects of your brain functioning."

Green Tea Reduces Risk of Stroke
  • Green tea not only reduces the problem of overweight but Clinical trials on consumption in human done by Dr. Arab and colleagues, at the University of North Carolina have shown that consumption of 3 or more cups of tea a day may help to reduce the risk of stroke and death from stroke by 21% despite differences in tea-drinking customs.
  • Studies on mice have shown reduced infarct volume (40% to 80%), increased surviving neurons, and delayed stroke onset following administration of green tea extracts.
Good for the Cognition

  • A cohort study of 2501 people from Singapore has found that regular tea consumption is associated with lower risks of cognitive impairment and decline.
  • The effects were most evident for black (fermented) and oolong (semi-fermented) teas. In contrast, no association between coffee intake and cognitive status was found.
Green Tea Makes You Sharp
  • Research from Japan, adding to claims that catechins present in Green tea may improve reference and working-memory related learning ability thus can help in fighting one of the most dreaded disease known to man... Alzheimer's.
A different explanation of the benefits of catechins on brain function is offered....

  • Improvement in spatial cognitive learning ability is due to the anti-oxidative activity of green tea catechins. Laboratory Animals administered tea extracts containing catechins had lower (hippocampus) reactive oxygen species concentrations in brain than controls.
  • Another Possible mechanism suggested by Japanese Scientists includes "Modulation of cell survival and cell cycle genes and promotion of neuronal overgrowth activity."
I would like to conclude by saying that Tea Drinking may be one of the most actionable lifestyle changes to significantly reduce the risk of stroke...So ENJOY GREEN!!!!
