How to Stay Focused at Work..!!

Distractions can happen to the best of us, then we should focus not necessarily on only preventing it, but on dealing with it when it does strike.It’s important to have as many things in favor of you rather than against.


I have talked about 'How to be successful person' in your life in my previous article and maintaining that  focus at work is one of the crucial ways of relishing that triumph. 

10 Ways to Stay Focused at Work.

1. Focus starts from Home-
  • Take a warm shower and wear deodorant. You wouldn't go to the office smelling like a Chicken mac grill, would you? Feeling clean is refreshing and will make you feel less like falling asleep on the job.
2. Wear some nice clothes- 
  • Try power dressing. You don’t need to wear heels or cufflinks—just something that’s comfortable when you sit up but not so comfortable that it makes you want to lie down.
3. Clean up your desk- 
  • That doesn't mean having an empty desk, it just means having neat stacks of paper, all filed in the proper location. It also helps immensely having all the things you need easily within reach.
  • For example, if you need a place to write, having your pen and notepad close by and easily accessible is exceptionally useful. Don't treat your desk as kitchen table. That’s for eating; a desk is for working. 
  • If you don’t use space well enough, how are you supposed to pretend that you’re doing important things that are getting you a paycheck?

4. Allot time slots colleagues can interrupt you-
  • Friends are important but be Practical,don’t accept calls from friends or relatives unless it’s during your lunch hour or after your designated work hours. You wouldn't accept them if you were working from behind a desk under your boss’s nose.
5. Take some Break-
  • According to a study,working more than 2 hours a day at a stretch may cause increase incidence of Heart disease. So, Fifteen minute breaks after two hours of work is very necessary.  
  • Doing something on your feet will refresh you from the eye strain and sitting of desktop work.
6. Do not check personal email in the morning.  
  • This is especially true when your friends send you links to interesting articles, jokes or videos on YouTube or updates on Facebook. If you’re not careful, you can waste your precious hours even before you will realize. 
  • Try starting work straight away instead of checking your personal email as soon as you get in,  This will build up some momentum as you ease into your work day. 
  • Check your personal email only after you have a few assignment completed or underway. Also, if you don’t want to perpetuate a particular distracting email thread, just don’t reply to it until after work.
7. Writing down a to-do list. 
  • Keep a tally of what you've accomplished by day’s end. Before leaving your desk for the day, write down your goals for the next day. Writing down a to-do list will remind you that you have to wake up when the alarm goes off the next morning instead of hitting snooze thirty times.
8. Fill up a water bottle.  
  • This does a couple of things – firstly, it limits the unnecessary breaks associated every time you get up for water and secondly, it avoids being sucked into lengthy discussions around the water cooler. Beside this keeping yourself hydrated is pretty important for all sorts of health reasons.
9. Find the best time to do repetitive and boring tasks. 
  • No matter how much you try to shun it, you’re going to have to confront doing things which are either repetitive or dreary. For these tasks, it is best to choose a time in the day to work on them. 
  • For example,if You feel more alert at the start of the day, so it’s better to work on things which require brain power early rather than working on uninteresting tasks that can be suspended  towards the end of the day when you feel usually tired.
10. Change your mindset and make work fun.  
  • Be heedful of the fact that your perception of work is something you can control.

so...Try changing your mindset or turning work into a game. An unfocused mind, is an unchallenged mind. Lets make things fun..!!!!
